Holcon Padding (Hollofibre)

Holcon is a modern fiber-based material made from polyester fibers. Its structure is light and airy, often referred to as “synthetic cotton.” It was created as an alternative to natural cotton and wool to provide durability, hygiene, and hypoallergenic properties.

 Origin

Holcon first appeared in the second half of the 20th century, when the textile industry began using synthetic fibers. It quickly became one of the most popular fillers in furniture, mattresses, pillows, and blankets thanks to its affordability, durability, and easy maintenance.

 Key Characteristics

  • Airy structure: fibers are layered to preserve lightness.
  • Elasticity: maintains shape over time, does not collapse.
  • Hypoallergenic: resistant to dust mites, bacteria, and allergens.
  • Durability: does not rot, shrink, or lose freshness.
  • Eco-stable: often recyclable and odor-resistant.

 Applications

Holcon padding is widely used in:

  • Mattresses as supportive or comfort layers
  • Pillows and duvets for softness and breathability
  • Upholstered furniture
  • Medical and children’s products

 Advantages

  • Balanced warmth and ventilation
  • Antibacterial and hygienic
  • Easy to maintain
  • More durable than natural cotton
  • Environmentally safe and .recyclable

Note

Holcon padding is commonly available in 2000 g/m² or other density variations. The higher the density (grammage), the firmer and more supportive the mattress becomes. A 2000 g/m² Holcon layer is especially strong and designed for durability under load.
